ntl:home sucks because....
- Phone: If your phone breaks on a weekend, there is no one you can call to
get it fixed. Customer service (if you can get through) is only available
Monday to Friday.
- Phone: There is a 5p connection charge on all calls (Leeds area), this
makes it more expensive than the BT's equivalent service.
- Broadband: Upload speeds are slower then ADSL. (This is one of my major
gripes. Welcome to the 21st century! Now, this video conferencing lark, how's
that going to work with a piss-poor 128k upload channel?)
- Broadband: Download speeds are better in most cases when compared to ADSL
from BT *provided* NTL's crappy web caches are working.
- Broadband: Email. Jesus... Where are your mail servers located? The Moon?
- Broadband: NNTP, posting an article requires divine intervention in most
cases.
- Broadband: If you have lots of TCP connections open then the set top box
will hang requiring a hard restart. Even the new Samsung boxes are affected.
So if you want to get the latest Fedora via Bittorrent - you're screwed.
- TV: Digital TV interactive services will 90% of the time crash the box,
even the new Samsung ones. The only good thing is that the Samsung ones crash
quicker so you can save a bit of time there wondering if you should reboot it
or not.
- NTL: If you've been a customer for years they'll do everything to screw
every last pence out of you. Itemised phone billing is a
quid, no service is cheaper then BT or SKY, no discount or special offers to
existing customers.
- ntl:home offer new customers lots of sweet deals - while ignoring their
most important business assets of all...
- NTL's engineers are really very good but they're as rare as hen's teeth
now the managers have made them redundant.
Thinking about joining ntl:home?
- You're mad.
- You're insane.
- You've lost your marbles.
WORST OF ALL.....
- ntl:home makes BT look good.
